Josiah's third grade class went to the IMAX to see Wild Africa. Then we ate lunch at the Gondolier. A lovely time was had by all.

April Books
If I ever find myself nursing in the 1860s, I will be sure to keep my patients clean, warm, and well-ventilated, with their heads not too close to the ceiling, and a nice view out the window if possible. Also, I will empty and clean their chamber pots regularly and make sure they have lids, which I will also wash.
The boys and I finished two more All-of-a-Kind Family books this month. We seem to have read this one out-of-order. Highly recommend this series!
This was okay, if you enjoy a mystery.
This was a good book, set at the beginning of World War 1, although I don't know why it's called 'The Summer Before the War' because there is lots of war included.
This was based on the life of a British lady named Beryl Markham who grew up in Kenya to become a pilot and a racehorse trainer. She was the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic from east to west. All very interesting, but not a great book, in my humble opinion. :)
This is the true story of a British missionary who served in China and Taiwan from 1932 until her death in 1970. My mom checked this book out at the church library and then loaned it to me. I have read about this lady before. Right now, there is an old movie, 'The Inn of the Sixth Happiness,' based loosely on Gladys's life, on Netflix right now. I haven't watched it yet though. Just guessing it will be stressful, and I like to watch peaceful things at night, like 'The Great British Baking Show.' It is a good book though.
Another delightful All-of-a-Kind book.
This was not too terrifying, just mysterious.
This was my second book by Helen Simonson of the month. At first I wasn't enjoying this as much as her other book, 'The Summer Before the War', mostly because it is set in modern times instead of the olden days. Keep with it though, because it turned out to be just about as interesting as her other book after all.
There you have it.
9 books in April.
Josiah is pretty sure he read way more books than that in April.
Over 30, definitely, he says.
And he bets they were just as long as Major Pegoo's Last Stand.
Happy May to you!

Saturday Afternoon
After the boys' soccer game my parents took the boys and me on a hike by the Hiwassee River.
