Friday

Caleb has been puzzling it up. 

Took the boys to the library yesterday and they sat on this miniature couch and read and read and I thought, who are these people!  Josiah was zooming through Magic Treehouse books, and I read a chapter out loud to the two of them, and it was okay, but last night I read them a chapter of 'Little House in the Big Woods' and let me tell you there is a huge difference!  Love those Little House books so much!

What I'm really wanting to show you is a roof, but that is still yet to come. For now we have more framing, steps down into the lean-to, a foundation for the chase, etc.  Who knows what tomorrow may hold!

Wednesday

Today was a bit slow on the building front , as the fearless leader was down for the count with a stomach bug. 

But it sure turned out to be a beautiful sunny day!

Tuesday

Caleb the Great carries in the groceries. 

He loaded himself up like that - we were all chatting by the log cabin and noticed him barely making it into the house with his heavy load. :)

Monday Funday

Here we have the back room completed. Complete in a skeletal kind of way.

The Wizard of Oz

My parents took the boys and I to see a play this weekend at The Cumberland County Playhouse.  Here we are all dolled up for the occasion. 

 My grandparents used to take my cousin and I to plays there when we were about the boys' size. One of my main childhood memories from one of those trips was that we each got to pick one kind of candy to take in to the play.  I picked Reese's Pieces and they were gone in a flash. My older and wiser cousin got a roll of Lifesavers and her candy lasted and lasted and she even shared one with me. I couldn't believe it. I guess I didn't know if I could have been so generous myself. So good job to 7-year-old you, Shannon!

My dad and Eleonora did not get tickets. They played outside and inside, made friends with another baby named Rosemary, and altogether had a lovely time.

Josiah and his Aunt Buzz both got a little carsick on the drive through the mountains, but they both stayed strong. 

So thanks to Grandma and Poppa for the fabulous time!  Encore!

This Week

Well, when we last spoke, I believe the logs were just being finished. 

Since then, capstones have been added to the cinderblock wall around the lean-to. 

The lean-to walls have gone up.  

Caleb is showing off a little finishing work. He is standing in the log cabin and behind him will be the step-down into the lean-to. The finishing work I'm referring to is that there are now vertical boards on the ends of the short logs jutting into the cabin - and they are attached with pegs, Chris is proud to point out. (If that didn't make a lick of sense to you, I'll show you in real life!)

Jumbos

The kids and I went on a seed-starting trip to Lowe's last Saturday.  (Funny to have to say 'kids' instead of just 'boys.') Josiah picked a pack of watermelon seeds that are supposed to grow 200 pound watermelons. And Caleb's seeds are going to grow 300 pound pumpkins. 

As Caleb would say, "I'll believe it 'til I see it!"
