Baked Oatmeal

Good morning!

It looks like I never published this one before, but here it is, as I wrote it back in Shady Nook.

The boys and I have been enjoying a new warm, delicious breakfast treat - baked oatmeal.
The boys love to eat grits, and I've tried mushy oatmeal in a bowl, but that's not my idea of a good time.

This recipe was called Cookie Dough Baked Oatmeal,
but it is nothing like eating oatmeal cookie dough out of the bowl - that is what I was hoping for!
Still pretty delicious!

Trip to Kingsport

The weekend before last, we headed to Kingsport to visit Grandmother and Aunt Faye, and we had the best time, as usual!

We didn’t take many pictures, but we sure were happy to be there!!!

I got to help with a bit of technology while I was there, which included added some pictures to FB for the ladies. The picture above shows Grandmother’s aunt and mom as girls.

And this was the house of Ma and Pap Rogers (Grandmother’s maternal grandparents).  Or something along those lines.

While we were gone, we missed out on the flooding in our neck of the woods. Our house was fine other than a little moat action around the cabin and a foot or so of water in the cellar of the house. We’re going to work on those issues before next time, hopefully.

But the main thing is that we were so grateful for our fun visit with our wonderful family!

Getting Ready for Valentine’s Day!

The kids and I enjoyed putting together Valentines for all the kids in our classes today. We bought three boxes and mixed and matched. Target had fun ones where you got a little eraser or pencil sharpener to stick onto the Valentine with a glue dot. Caleb cracked us all up by very seriously covering up all the mushy sentiments on every one of his cards to girls.

This is Josiah’s last year of elementary school Valentine’s day!  He’s off to middle school in the fall, you know. Thankfully it’s still in the same building!

Eleonora packed up her box of Valentines for classmates and included every last bit of confetti from Aunt Terry’s Valentine. I’m sure her teachers will be appreciative!

The Aquarium

A few Saturdays back, the Tennessee Aquarium had a special day for teachers and their families. We had the best time.
