Footers

Concrete was poured for the footers yesterday.
Caleb and Lydia had a great time watching the guys working out there - especially because it was snowing!
Chris and my dad were slightly less amused by the snowfall.
Today it is on to block laying!

And since Jennifer enjoyed her newfound log cabin trivia yesterday, I will tell you something else.

Did you know?

Most old log homes that you find will have sides measuring 16-20 feet in length. For a bigger home, often two of these 'pens' were connected with a dog trot, with a common roof covering the whole thing. Our log home was constructed of two pens with each side of each pen measuring exactly 17 feet, 9 inches in length, with a connecting dog trot.
