March Books

I read Rilla of Ingleside, the last of the Anne books, to the boys. They enjoyed it.  I remembering falling in love with this book the first time I read it. 

I enjoyed these Beverly Cleary’s as a kid, too. The kids and I listened to these as audiobooks. Speaking of Beverly Cleary, I forgot to add until later, that in February I read two books of Beverly Cleary that I had never heard of before. They’re for teenagers and part of something called her First Love series. You’ll have to look back and check them out. They’re a hoot. And I would never have guessed that they’re by the Ramona Quimby creator. 

Can’t remember if I recommend The Henna Artist or not. Must not have loved it too much!

I have my grandmother’s copy of her mother’s book, Highacres, so that made this book a treat to read. 

I always enjoy a good decluttering session, and this was a good little inspirational book on the topic. 

Backed up and read this book to the boys after Rilla. It’s tough to beat an Anne book. 


Also, Jenn and I and a few friends finished a ‘Read through the Bible in 90 Days’ challenge on March 31, which as Eleonora just learned for Awana is 27 books, but we won’t add those to my total. 

Speaking of decluttering, I got rid of approximately 184 items in the month of March and only looked at Facebook a handful of times. I walked at least 10,000 steps at least 8 days. 

So for 2021 so far, I’ve read 23 books and gotten rid of 362 items. Woot. 

Warrior Day

Our school system very generously gave every teacher at my school a Warrior Day - an extra day off of school that they picked, as a thanks for our work during Covid. (I will say that I was reading Marco Polo when they introduced the idea to us, which is full of accounts of actual warriors, and thank goodness, we are not them. I don’t think the person who picked the name was reading a similar historical account at the time.)  Jenno and her boys joined me in a trip to the “big city” and we had a fabulous, rainy day - including long wet jaunts across parking lots to avoid getting the boys back in their car seats between stores. It was memorable for sure.
